Painting mahogany and other redwoods
Redwood furniture such has mahogany, cedar, kauri etc contain tannic acid. It can also be found in pine knots. Tannin will cause brown staining to seep through fresh paint and ruining your beautiful finish. To control tannin bleed you will need to seal it with a stain blocker.
