How to paint dipped legs

How to paint dipped legs

Despite being called 'dipped legs' they actually aren't! The look can be easily achieved using masking tape and Voodoo Molly Vintage Paint.

METHOD

  1. Clean furniture well, removing all traces of dirt, grease, wax and loose particles.

  2. Lightly sand surface with 100-150 grit sandpaper for best adhesion.

  3. Paint the whole item with the main colour of Voodoo Molly Vintage Paint

  4. Allow paint to dry well between coats and lightly sand each time with sandpaper.

  5. Use a pencil and ruler to lightly mark where your dipped legs will be.

  6. Use FrogTape masking tape to mask up your design, gently running your finger nail along the edge to seal it.

  7. Paint with the second colour, drying well between coats.

  8. Carefully remove the masking tape before the final coat is fully dry.

Hints:

  • Use FrogTape for bleed free lines.
  • Draw line lightly with pencil
  • Experiment with dipped top half, instead of dipped legs
  • For a one colour look with bare wooden feet mask off that area before painting the rest.
